Italian food products are creations, works of art... born from a boiling cauldron that started centuries if not thousands of years ago.

The ingredients were Italy's unique history... from the ancient Greek and Roman civilizations, to the french and austrian occupations in the north, and the spanish and arabian in the south.

And Italy's unique geographical features... with the highest mountains of Europe at the top, almost 8000km of coastline and the country's backbone made by the Appenine mountains.

These factors contributed to the immense variety of gastronomic traditions handed on orally through the centuries all over Italy.

The products discussed on this website are from regional to very local traditions.

Don't be surprised if you've never heard some of them! But we think that in the 21st century and the information age, it's about time that the world knows about these gastronomic gems! This is my underlying passion at the base of this website.

Some important products are recognised by the European Union as 'PDO' (Protected Designation of Origin) or 'PGI' (Protected Geographical Indication).

Limoncello

An Italian icon and a refreshing spirit from southern Italy, made of just lemons, water, alcohol and sugar.





Originally I'm from Modena, in the Emilia-Romagna region in the north of Italy. That's why I'm so proud and passionate about products from Modena such as balsamic vinegar, nocino or Torta Barozzi.
